Doctoral studies at the Chair of Philosophy of Science

If you are interested in doing a PhD on a topic relevant to the Chair, there are two possibilities:

  1. You can apply for an advertised PhD student position. These advertisements will appear on the Faculty's webpage.
  2. You already have funding or are planning to apply for a scholarship (e.g. from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes). In that case, please send the following documents (in English) as one PDF file to the Chair's secretary:

  • a cover letter that addresses why you want to do your PhD at our chair, your academic background, your research interests and the proposed starting date;
  • a list of publications (if applicable);
  • BA and (if applicable) MA certificates;
  • a sample of written work of no more than 3000 words;
  • a description of the planned PhD project of about 2000 words.

A separate letter of recommendation should also be sent to the Chair's secretary from the referees directly. No need to copy you. We will then look at your documents and get back to you.
